The final pages could have been 30 and none would have been lost. Rale, the Da Vinci Code released intobut I read it first came to my mind as well with the conspiracy part of the story. Instead of some demented killer in the woods, there are wonderful, terrifying, fantastic creatures from legend. Gloria, their mother, senses something, but simply dismisses her concern as stress from their recent move. The story takes place in modern day but manages to wind in lots of ancient faerie mythology.
